Payroll Officer

At SP McKeown & Co we are currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced Payroll Officer to lead our payroll bureau function. You will be able to work independently to support the team and provide the best service to our clients.


We have a team of highly qualified accountants specialising in a wide range of accounting services, cross border tax, business start-ups and maximising the profit of every client. The Role
Permanent
Full time (37.5 hours per week) with flexible working around core hours
Part time applications considered also
Salary £20,000 to £24,000 depending on experience


Main Responsibilities
Overseeing payroll function of the practice
Completion of payroll processing for a large number of clients in varying sectors in Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland
Ensuring clients meet statutory obligations with HMRC/Revenue/Pensions Regulator
Administration of pensions including auto-enrolment
Providing advice and assistance to clients
Dealing with queries from HMRC/Revenue etc
Assisting with general administration services
Assist in training junior staff who are studying for Higher Level Apprenticeships


The successful candidate will have: –
Minimum of 2 years payroll experience (previous experience working in practice beneficial but not essential)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
Have a high level of attention and accuracy
Highly organised, able to work to deadlines
Be able to work on own initiative as well as being part of a team
Have a working knowledge of payroll processing packages (Iris/Sage would be an advantage)
