Hours of Duty: Permanent Post: 33 hours per week

Reception duties, which include; communication with patients, clients, carers, the public, external contacts and colleagues. Clerical work which includes routine work procedures such as preparation for GP and Practice Nurse patient appointments, telephone duties, appointment systems, word processing, and general surgery assistance. Input and extract information from computer based records system.
Contribute to own personal development through involvement in the development review process.
Assist in maintaining own and others’ health, safety and security.
Make changes in own practice and offer suggestions for improving services.
Maintain quality in own work and encourage others to do so.
Act in ways that support equality and value diversity.
The Receptionist will report to the Practice Manager and be ultimately responsible to the Doctors. Their duties will be drawn from those listed below subject to alterations from time to time.
|1.||Respond appropriately to patient queries.|
|2.||Ensure the smooth running of surgeries and clinics.|
|3.||Receive and direct patients appropriately.|
|4.||Answer the telephone, record all calls, take and forward messages.|
|5.||Arrange and produce repeat prescriptions for Doctors to sign; process and file same for collection.|
|6.||Operate appointments system as appropriate.|
|7.||Initiate new procedures to Practice organisation and streamline methods of work.|
|8.||Keep up to date with relevant information and instruction.|
|9.||Use word processing software, scanning, e-mail, laboratory & registration links as required.|
|10.||Open and distribute mail.|
|11.||Maintain computerised patient records as directed by the Practice Manager.|
|12.||Maintain filing system.|
|13.||Type letters, reports, forms etc. as required.|
|14.||Any other reception and clerical duties associated with the Health Centre.|
